Episode 137 – Stu Brauer on How to Scale Your Gym with a Licensing Model

By December 25, 2020 No Comments

For successful gym owners that want to scale their business beyond a single location, it’s often not worth the risk of owning and taking on the overhead and stress of all of those additional locations.
After years of working towards a franchise model for his gym Urban Mvmnt, Stu Brauer just announced last week that he will be launching with a licensing model instead.
Most gym owners are familiar with the licensing model that CrossFit offers, where you pay between $500-$3000 annually to use the CrossFit name, but receive very little guidance on how to run a successful business.

In Stu’s case, he felt there was a huge gap between the typical hands-off licensing model, and the highly structured, but often inflexible, franchise model.  So Stu set out to create a model that maximized the best of both worlds.

In today’s episode, Stu shares his vision for the Urban Mvmnt licensing model, and his thoughts on how other gym owners can follow in his footsteps to build a brand that scales to multiple locations.
