Coaching intensity, otherwise thought of as coaching pacing or effort, is something that many coaches overlook. It’s easy to get complacent and let ourselves slip a little when coaching a less technical movement or workout. If your athletes are already moving safely, especially on movements like rowing, biking, skiing and running, this is a great opportunity to coach intensity.
In this episode, we’ll uncover ways to help our athletes maximize their intensity in every workout. As coaches, we know that a 2 min workout and a 20 min workout are both attacked very differently, but our athletes don’t fully understand how to put this into practice. The goal is to help our athletes understand their lactic threshold so eventually they can make the right pacing decisions to get the most out of their workouts.
